Website accessibility status
These websites are partly compliant with the Finnish Act on the provision of digital services 306/2019. The non-compliances are listed below.
Non-accessible content
The content discussed below is non-accessible, as it is not compliant with the Act on the provision of digital services 306/2019:
password.aalto.fi
- When using strong identification, the activation of Aalto user account is not fully usable with keyboard. (WCAG 2.1.1) Activating user account with weak identification is possible with keyboard.
- Contrasts of some texts and user interface elements are not sufficient. (WCAG 1.4.3, 1.4.11)
- Error messages are not clearly connected to the erroneous fields. (WCAG 3.3.1, 3.3.3) Error messages are provided at the bottom of the web page.
- After activation of the account some information disappears, if content is zoomed. (WCAG 1.4.10, 1.4.4)
- Some of the user interface elements look similar, even if they work differently. For example, it is difficult to tell apart input fields that are active or disabled. (WCAG 3.2.4).
- Marking current step in step indicator is implemented only with colour. (WCAG 1.4.1).
- The technical implementation of the website has some flaws that affect the use of screen reader:
- The language of the website is not defined programmatically. (WCAG 3.1.1)
- The keyboard focus moves directly to the first active input when loading a new page. (WCAG 1.3.2)
- Not all images have good alternative texts. (WCAG 1.1.1)
- There are flaws in programmatical marking of heading levels. (WCAG 1.3.1)
- There are flaws in label implementation in the password reset process using weak identification. (WCAG 1.3.1)
- Website uses tables as technical solution for layout purposes. (WCAG 1.3.1)
idm.aalto.fi

- The implementation of date and time setting is not completely accessible. (WCAG 2.1.1, 1.3.1, 2.4.6, 3.3.2)
- Zooming web page leads to content overlap in some cases. (WCAG 1.4.10, 1.1.1, 1.3.1)
- Change in shopping cart or pending actions is communicated only by colour in top navigation. (WCAG 1.4.1). Expected actions are, however, presented accessibly on the front page of the service.
- The technical implementation of the website has some flaws that affect the use of screen reader:
- The language of the website is defined to wrong language. (WCAG 3.1.1)
- Tables and views containing tables have minor flaws that make understanding them more difficult when using screen reader. (WCAG 2.4.6, 1.3.1)
- Page loading is communicated only visually. (WCAG 1.1.1)
- Required fields are not technically well marked. (WCAG 1.3.1)
- The skip link to main content leads past the main heading. (WCAG 1.3.2)
- Additionally, there are some minor programmatical flaws in certain views, such as using table for layout purposes (WCAG 1.3.1); using link when there is no need for a link (WCAG 3.2.4) and small overlap of text and pictures when using additional spacing. (WCAG 1.4.12)
